Philosophy and Identity
It's harder than you think to find someone who lives in the present.
Many of the people around us are divided into two main groups: those linked to the past, in a certain manner unable to go beyond, and those oriented to the future, committed to think what to do later, tomorrow, in a few days, in a month….or maybe in the next life.
Only a few are able to live in the present, that is, finally, the only real time we have to live.
The earth, the nature, remember to those who are lucky enough to live closely to them, that the present is the only time that exists, and where it’s well worth the effort to focus on, following the rhytms, and respecting virtues.
Each season “lives” its present, and while naturelives and grows in its life cycle, we grow with it, to go over, once again, a known process, but always new.
We are blessed, this is what we are.
19th century historical documents show how, already at that time, in Tenuta la Meridiana, wines of superior quality were produced and commercialized, especially Barbera.
After five generations, according to the tradition, dedication and passion that has always characterized those who worked here, the seed of this certainty is still alive: the "terroir" is still the main value, that Gianpiero Bianco and Federico Primo intend to defend, promoting the original activity of the family and producing wines that represent the best recap of territory, tradition and innovation.
In the heart of Monferrato
Tenuta la Meridiana is located a few kilometers south of Asti, in the hills of Monferrato, an area particularly suitable for the production of Barbera and cradle of Piedmontese viticulture.
Care and attention are put first in the vineyard farming, grown almost entirely with Guyot method, according to the ancient Piedmontese tradition, in which, thanks to a careful manual labor and thinning techniques, we obtain high quality grapes, selected again during the harvest.
The same care is used in the other stages of the production process, relating to the vinification, aging and bottling, with the belief that everything is reflected in the finished product.
Only in a great land
you can make great wines.
The composition of the soil, characterized by marl with layers of clay and tuff, enhances the characteristics of the present vines, among which Barbera stands out, the undisputed king of this territory.
The landscape of this region, whose beauty is celebrated by the unforgettable colors of the fall season, was modeled by the labor of generations of farmers who have made it an harmonious place, where nature and human activities, in particular a passion for wine production, have formed a deep relationship: also for this reason there was the recognition of the "wine landscapes of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato" as World Heritage Site.
Our dream: to transform the commitment, tenacity and strength of the area into a great wine, respecting what nature gives us and the values we believe in, living an intense moment of sharing.
